Dr. Aparupa Chatterjee (Artistic Director) raised in an artistic family in Kolkata, the City of Joy in India, founded the Company in 2009 as an adjunct organisation of Texas A&M University which later transformed into a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, performing and teaching worldwide. Chatterjee has performed lead roles in Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra’s iconic repertory and in new contemporary works of Guru Ratikant Mohapatra. She received a PhD from Texas A&M University and was a Regents’ scholar. She has danced with Srjan repertory of Bhubaneshwar, Sudeshna Maulik (Montreal), Sunanda Nair’s Company, Guru Sujata Mohapatra, Natyalaya company, and many other prestigious dance works directed by herself.
In 2007 she was honored with the National Scholarship from Govt of India and Sur Sansad, Mumbai’s Singar Mani titles. She was named one of the “Best Performers” by the Eagle and the Battalion. In 2012, she was chosen to be cast for a 3D movie ‘Tarang’ which was honored by Disney as the best 3D movie during LA film festival, won the 61st International film Festival in Germany for the making of the movie and the performance. Chatterjee was chosen as an academic fellow for the International Leadership Association following her research on how Performing arts may be used in Int’l Development in developing nations in 2010 by the USAID.

Chatterjee, a curator and organizer of the North American Odissi Convention, has performed at numerous prestigious festivals of India, US and abroad. In 2013, Chatterjee was featured as the Odissi dancer in Texas by Dancing with the Stars on USA’S ABC and under her lead, Odissi Dance Company, was featured for season 10 of America’s Got Talent. In 2016, Chatterjee produced along with several Indian Raga musicians in the Fellowship at MIT a choreographic work on Ashtapadi. In 2017 she choreographed an invocation to Lord Vithala, which had received an international press acclaim and noted to be a ‘high point in her choreographic works’. Chatterjee continues to perform, choreograph and train in Texas, North Dakota, New York, India and abroad.
