Samprokshana Karthikeyan

Samprokshana Karthikeyan, born and brought up in Texas, has been learning Odissi under Smt. Aparupa Chatterjee since 2011. Odissi has been a platform to express herself and showcase her Indian culture and traditions to her community. She has performed various pieces in the Texas area from her childhood, including the choreographic works of Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, Guru Ratikant Mohapatra, and Smt. Aparupa Chatterjee. Samprokshana has performed at many local events including Child Rights and You, Kelucharan Guna Keertanam, and Guru Pranidhana at the Shri Omkarnath Temple, Texas A&M SPICMACAY Baithak, and Brazos Valley World Fest in College Station. She also performed at SEWA International Dancing Stars in Houston where her group won third place. She joined the Odissi Dance Company in 2020 and is dedicated and devoted to performing in future Odissi events around the U.S and strives to improve the art with each day. In addition to dancing Odissi, Samprokshana passionately plays the violin and has qualified for All Region Orchestra for two years, has been nationally recognized by the Duke TIP program, plays tennis and has participated in local tournaments, and occasionally sings bhajans with her mom.
