Divya Chowdhary

Born in Sweden and raised in America, Divya Chowdhary is a lead performer of the Company and has performed in North America, Qatar, and India. Divya regularly performs as a team leader in group, duet, and solo choreographic works of Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, Guru Ratikant Mohapatra, and Smt. Aparupa Chatterjee. She premiered Dr. Aparupa Chatterjee’s ‘Ye Ho Vithala’ in India in 2016 in Odissi International and Kelucharan Guna Keertanam in Bhubaneshwar and Kolkata.

​In 2015, she was recognized with the Outstanding Student Award from Texas A&M University for her efforts in advancing Odissi and preserving an Indian classical dance form. Chowdhary successfully completed a 3 hour solo dance debut (Manchpravesh, Odissi graduation) at the Rudder Theater in 2014 under the guidance of her guru, Smt. Chatterjee. Later dance credits include the Natyanjali Dance Award honored by the Indian Embassy in Qatar. Chowdhary’s exposition was revered in Kolkata and was termed ‘one of the most graceful and charming performances of the evening’ by the Statesman newspaper. Chowdhary is also a professional Bollywood performer and choreographer. Chowdhary joined the Odissi Dance Company in 2012. Currently, she is a faculty of ODC, teaching in the Greater Seattle Area.
