Swati Yarlagadda
Swati Yarlagadda, a Texan, began her training in Odissi under the tutelage of Aparupa Chatterjee at the age of seven. Swati completed a 3 hour solo dance debut (Manchapravesh) at the age of twelve. She has performed Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra’s, Guru Ratikant Mohapatra’s and Aparupa’s choreographic works extensively in USA and India. She is one of the core dancers of the Odissi Dance Company since 2010 and has performed with the company at prestigious festivals. Swati was a finalist in the 2016 Texas Star Kalakaar. In December 2016 she was honored with the ‘Odissi Prativa’ title by Odissi International, Bhubaneswar. She was also a contestant in the America’s Got Talent in 2014. Swati performed with Natyalaya School of Dance and is trained in Bharatnatyam and performed several choreographic works like ‘Jungle Book’. Currently she is a faculty of ODC, teaching in Austin, TX.
